Alan James Doherty, Sr. fell asleep in death on April 21, 2024 in Norfolk, VA. He was 59 years old and born in Coventry, England.
Alan was confident in the bible’s promise found at Romans 6:23 “For the wages sin pays is death, but the gift God gives is everlasting life by Christ Jesus our Lord.” Jesus gave us a model for prayer found at Matthew 6:9-13. Verse 10 says “Let your kingdom come. Let your will take place, as in heaven, also on earth.” Alan looked forward to the many promises the kingdom will fulfill for all of us.
Alan was passionate about going to the gym and bodybuilding. He loved fast cars, his favorite being muscle cars. He was a mechanic and auto body technician. Alan was proud to share his knowledge and skill by helping many friends and family workout and repair their vehicles.
Alan loved his family dearly. He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Trish Doherty and their three sons. Corey Doherty, James Doherty with wife Pamela and daughter Kinsley, and Slade Doherty with daughters Ellarae and Wittyn. Also left to cherish his memory is his mother Mary Meixner, brother Sean Doherty and sisters Leahon Hawkins and Monica Lauterbach. Alan will be missed by an aunt, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
A celebration of life will take place at Norfolk Botanical Garden on Tuesday April 30, 2024 at 6:30PM.
